Aims to cut coating time and extend shelf-life

Beneo-Palatinit, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of Isomalt, has introduced galenIQ 981 excipient, which is said to offer ways to improve industrial processing, stability and shelf-life for drug makers.

galenIQ 981 was introduced at CPhI in Madrid, is a sugar-alcohol isomalt used for coating of solid dosage forms for both traditional small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and biologics.

Reportedly, excipient is will be used to replace coating agents like sucrose, said Bodo Fritzsching, head of pharma technical services.
