news.InstyMeds, a marketer of automated physician dispensing systems, has partnered with DocuTAP, the electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management solution for urgent care facilities, to provide a new approach to workflow management for health care providers and better patient care.

According to the InstyMeds, the medical provider enters prescriptions through the DocuTAP EMR software and the prescription order is sent to the InstyMeds dispenser. The fully automated InstyMeds system collects payment, performs a triple bar code safety check, and dispenses medications directly to patients. The prescription history is automatically stored in the DocuTAP EMR.
