Van Andel Research Institute To Utilise Aushon BioSystems 2470 Arrayer Technology

Aushon BioSystems has said that Van Andel Research Institute (VARI), part of the Van Andel Institute, will utilise 2470 Arrayer technology in its Laboratory of Cancer Immunodiagnostics to advance research efforts focusing on developing novel protein analysis methods to identify and study protein abnormalities in the blood of cancer patients.

The goal of the research is to develop blood tests for the early detection or more accurate diagnosis of cancer. Aushon 2470 Arrayer has been installed in institutions throughout North America, Europe and Asia to provide accurate, high-density microarray printing for both genomic and proteomic applications.

Aushon BioSystems claimed that 2470 Arrayer is able to print virtually any sample, including cell lysates and blood, onto substrates with shapes and chemistries, as well as the most delicate of substrates such as nitrocellulose and silicon chips. Engineered with walk-away automation, the solid pin architecture and proprietary pin design make the 2470 the most flexible and reliable microarray printing platform available.

Brian Haab, senior scientific researcher at laboratory of cancer immunodiagnostics of Van Andel, said: “Our lab produces a wide variety of microarrays, including antibody, protein, glycan, small molecule, and RNAi.

“With such a diverse mix, we need to ensure that we have good consistency between arrays, as well as reliability and speed in the printing platform. The 2470 has capability and ability to produce many arrays with many different elements in a reasonable amount of time.”
