INEOS NOVA Plans To Close PS Plant At Netherlands

Works council and unions had been informed and measures are being taken for the effected employees

INEOS NOVA is planing to close the polystyrene (PS) plant at Breda, Netherlands. The plant has a capacity of 90,000 tonne/year with 50 employees.

The company said that the company’s other PS lines in France, Sweden and Germany will be used to reach customer demands and only expandable polystyrene (EPS) and high performance PS will be produced at Breda.

Martin Pugh, managing director of INEOS NOVA, said: “We recognise the impact of such a decision and will work hard to make this transition as smooth as possible for our employees and the Breda community.”

The works council and unions had been informed by the company and measures are being taken for the effected employees.

Reportedly, PS industry was suffering from oversupply, even after 13% of installed capacity was cut down in 2006.
