Sanofi-Aventis Q1 net income up by 16%

French pharmaceutical group Sanofi-Aventis has reported net income after minority interest of E2.18 billion for the first quarter of 2009, an increase of 15.7%, compared to net income after minority interest of E1.88 billion for the same period of 2008.

For the first quarter of 2009, Sanofi has reported adjusted earnings per share of E1.67, an increase of 16.8%, compared to adjusted earnings per share of E1.43 for the first quarter of 2008.

On a reported basis, the company has posted net sales of E7.12 billion for the first quarter of 2009, an increase of 2.5%, compared to E6.94 billion for the first quarter of 2008.
