news.Patheon, a provider of drug development and manufacturing services, has entered into a strategic alliance agreement with Kemwell, a provider of formulations contract manufacturing and development services based in Bangalore, India.

The alliance allows Patheon and Kemwell to refer and market each others’ services to clients to better meet their respective client’s requirements. The alliance is effective immediately and full promotion by Patheon’s business development units is expected by mid-year 2009.
Wes Wheeler, CEO and president of Patheon, said: “This alliance gives us more flexibility in our service offering. With Kemwell’s good manufacturing practice facility and expertise, we can offer our clients low volume, low cost solutions in solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage form manufacturing, and a full range of formulation and chemistry, manufacturing and controls-related development services from a new base in India.”
