Biolase Technology, a dental laser company, has announced that it was recently granted a Japanese method and apparatus patent with a total of 63 claims related to the use of lasers with water particles to cut and treat various types of tissue, hard or soft, for a variety of dental and medical applications.

Jake Philip, CEO of Biolase, said: “While we have had a number of recent successes in laser and consumable patents and global product launches, this is our first Japanese patent for Waterlase MD technology and applications.
“To date Waterlase has made its initial entry into more than 50 countries. Gaining approval to sell Waterlase in Japan is a key part of a more focused and profitable expansion months, we look forward to finalizing and sharing a number of other international strategy into key international markets. In the coming initiatives.”
