Dr. Paul Lohmann GmbH KG is the world’s leading provider of high-purity mineral salts to the pharmaceutical, nutrition and dietary supplement industries. We provide customers with the broadest available portfolio of mineral salts, with more than 350 products and over 1,000 qualities, designed to provide optimum performance across a wide range of applications.
As well as offering standard products at quality levels stipulated by pharmacopoeias or regulatory food guidelines, we develop and optimize products and product variants according to the customer’s requirements. This optimization includes the adaptation of chemical and physical parameters such as bulk density, wettability, particle size, purity and pH-value. These parameters can be adjusted to a very fine level for almost all mineral salts. Our experienced R&D department works in close cooperation with our
customers to fulfil their specific needs.
As a specialist in the production of mineral salts, we at Dr. Paul Lohmann® provide various sophisticated qualities and purities, according to customer’s demands and specifications. The product portfolio ranges from technically pure products to up-market products, which meet the requirements of international pharmacopoeia.
The suitability of mineral salts depends largely on their physical parameters. Dr. Paul Lohmann® offers a range of micronized and fine powders of 1 micron average particle size, up to granulates of 1 mm.
Our low-endotoxin products are manufactured in purpose built facilities and/or by taking particular precautions, such as the use of guaranteed low-endotoxin process water, etc. Low-endotoxin mineral compounds can be used in the following parenteral products:
Dr. Paul Lohmann® DC-Granulates allow for dust-free processing and are directly compressible. These processing properties contribute to health protection at work optimizing tabletting efficiency at the same time.
Our special process to produce micronized mineral salts enables us to create products with greatly enlarged specific surface area which facilitates a quick dissolution. Those mineral salts can be absorbed much easier from the foods and dietary supplements. In addition, micronized mineral salts are often much better for the use in gels, creams and lotions than coarse-grained qualities.
Many mineral salts such as ferrous compounds may cause an unpleasant taste, or possess oxidative properties. For those cases, we at Dr. Paul Lohmann® offer various microencapsulated ingredients. The encapsulation process physically separates those mineral salts from other more sensitive ingredients of products, such as cereals or infant milk preparations in order to protect them from taste impairment or oxidation.
As an additional service to customers who use trace elements in their applications – which are already toxic in small amounts – Dr. Paul Lohmann® offers these in the form of triturations with concentrations from 0.1 to 5%, diluted in inert carriers. To date, triturations of selenium, chromium, copper, molybdenum and iodine are available. Direct blending, easy portioning, homogeneous mixtures, reduced toxicity and safe handling are obvious advantages. We can provide triturations in blended forms where required.
This blending expertise can also be applied to tailor-made premixes of mineral salts and/or triturations.
At our GMP-certified production sites, we use state-of-the art equipment, and this combined with our many years of extensive high-level manufacturing experience ensures the highest quality. Intensive discussion and cooperation on research and development with our customers enables a smooth transfer from pilotplant scale to industrial production. As well as GMP and ISO certificates, Dr. Paul Lohmann® offers additional product documentation. For some products, CTDs, DMFs or CEPs are also available.
