news.Medline Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies, has received an award from HealthTrust Purchasing Group, a group purchasing organization that supports not-for-profit and for-profit acute care facilities, for medical and surgical supplies distribution.

The multi-year distribution agreement began on November 1, 2008 and includes HealthTrust Purchasing Group’s (HPG’s) acute care and alternate site locations.
By being awarded a contract for medical and surgical distribution status, Medline said that it is now officially approved to become a full line distributor of medical and surgical products for any of HPG’s acute care and alternate site facilities, which enables Medline to distribute both Medline and non-Medline brand products.
In addition to this new agreement, Medline has national product contracts with HPG covering a number of medical products, including wound care supplies, exam and surgeons gloves, textiles (bed sheets, scrubs and gowns) and wheelchairs, etc.
Tim Jacobson, senior vice president of corporate sales for Medline, said: “We are excited to be named an authorized distributor for HPG. As a long-standing partner with HPG, we now can provide further value to its members by offering our distribution capabilities and supply chain management programs.”
