Ebola crisis may result in billions of economic loss: Work Bank

The World Bank Group report stated that economic impact could be more, if the Ebola crisis exists for long time.

The death toll has reached 3,439 in the worst Ebola-hit nations Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

The two-year regional financial impact could reach around $32.6bn by the end of 2015, if the epidemic continues to infect people in neighboring countries, which are said to include some larger economies.

World Bank Group president Jim Yong Kim said: "With Ebola’s potential to inflict massive economic costs on Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone and the rest of their neighbors in West Africa, the international community must find ways to get past logistical roadblocks and bring in more doctors and trained medical staff, more hospital beds, and more health and development support to help stop Ebola in its tracks."

To this effect, the World Bank is providing $400m as emergency fund for three nations to overcome the crisis.
