TransEnterix names new president and CEO

TransEnterix, a medical device company focused on advanced minimally invasive surgery, has appointed Todd Pope as its new president and CEO.

Most recently, Mr Pope served as worldwide president of Cordis, a multibillion dollar franchise within Johnson and Johnson’s medical device sector. Mr Pope is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Fred McCoy, chairman of the board at TransEnterix, said: “TransEnterix has made rapid and substantial progress since securing its first institutional financing this past December. Now preparing to enter the extensive minimally-invasive surgery market, which is expected to be an $8 billion global market in 2008, it is essential to have seasoned and successful CEO leadership. Todd Pope is just such a leader.”
