Sanofi launches anti-lice lotion in US

Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of Sanofi, has launched Sklice 0.5% (ivermectin) lotion in US pharmacies to treat head lice infestations in patients 6 months of age and older as part of an overall lice management program.

Sklice Lotion in its third phase clinical trials could treat most head lice infestations with ten minute application.

Majority of the patients treated with Sklice Lotion for a two week period were free from lice, according to the company.

The Lotion has to be used as an overall lice management program, which includes hot washing or dry-cleaning all recently worn clothing, hats, bedding and towels, as well as washing personal care items.

Developed by Topaz Pharmaceuticals, Sklice Lotion is being commercialized by Sanofi Pasteur US.
