GlaxoSmithKline names new CMO

GlaxoSmithKline, a research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare company, has appointed Ellen Strahlman as its new CMO.

Ms Ellen joins GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) from Pfizer where she was vice president, licensing, worldwide business development. During her career, Ms Ellen has worked in a variety of roles including CEO of Virogen, a biotechnology company, CMO and global head of R&D for Bausch & Lomb.

Ms Ellen has earned her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she completed her internship in general surgery and residency in ophthalmology.

Moncef Slaoui, chairman of R&D at GlaxoSmithKline, said: “The depth of Ellen’s medical expertise, her general management and business development experience and proven leadership skills make her ideally suited to take on the challenges of this critical role.”
