According to the company, Pass Rx employs patented sensor technologies to generate a unique spectral fingerprint and image data of the size, color and shape of the drug. This information is compared to Centice’s proprietary database for an objective and reliable verification, thus improving the accuracy of the dispensed pharmaceutical.
Additionally, Pass Rx verifies the drug and strength of the dispensed pharmaceutical through the capped vial in an average of six seconds, which fits seamlessly into the pharmacy’s workflow.
Pass Rx is also said to offer a compact and easy-to-use system that enhances both the fulfillment and final verification processes, thus improving both quality and productivity in pharmacy operations. The initial roll out of Pass Rx is targeted to select pharmacies while Centice scales up its manufacturing.
Ray Swanson, president and CEO of Centice, said: “There is growing pressure on pharmacists to do more without sacrificing quality. Our goal is to help pharmacists improve quality, streamline workflow and become more efficient at delivering enhanced patient care.”
