San Diego-based Concerro has announced the launch of PanFluAware, an automated software solution and decision making system for H1N1 preparation and response.
As the 2009/10 flu season begins, the anticipated patient surge of H1N1 cases coupled with hospital workforce shortages has many public health officials and hospitals urgently seeking ways to take action, said the company.
PanFluAware equips healthcare providers with an automated toolkit to help prepare and respond in real-time to an influx of H1N1 cases. The system is expected to provide tracking and monitoring of critical processes and visibility into the resources, capacity and personnel available within a hospital, regional health system or local community to effectively prepare and respond to a pandemic.
Key product features include – a structured pandemic plan and decision making system using current CDC and HICS checklists and national best-practice guidelines, a pandemic response guide with action sheets and operational logs for real-time documentation and comprehensive reporting, and user-friendly color-coded dashboard which tracks progression and completion of necessary plan components and documentation.
It also includes customisable tracking fields to monitor status of employee vaccinations (including declinations), supplies, and N-95 mask fit-testing, corporate snapshot with comparative scorecard of hospital performance between health system facilities and against top performers, and detailed local, regional and state pandemic flu resources and communication contacts.
The company claims that PanFluAware installs in just one day, allowing healthcare organisations to quickly implement H1N1-related best practices to ensure proper preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.
Graham Barnes, CEO of Concerro, said: Given the public concern surrounding the H1N1 virus, all healthcare organisations and communities need to evaluate their capacity to respond to this potential pandemic. PanFluAware prepares hospitals to better manage pandemic risk and response by tracking changes in demand patterns and the availability of staff, resources and infrastructure.
